One Piece: Will Koby Team Up With Luffy To Save Garp?

The Final Saga of One Piece is going to be its most important yet.

As the name suggests, it will have the final set of arcs, which will shape how One Piece ends. Before the start of the Final Saga, many fans assumed it would have a slow start, but they couldn’t have been wrong. There have been a ton of important events in the Final Saga that have affected the lives of many characters.

One of the biggest shocks of the final saga was the capture of Monkey D. Garp, the hero of the Marines. After a bunch of reckless decisions, Garp ended up in the captivity of the Blackbeard pirates. His capture will indubitably send shockwaves throughout the world. One Piece fans are already aware of the brutal nature of the Blackbeard pirates, so it’s rather obvious that the wise admiral is in trouble. However, all is not lost, as there are many people who adore Garp.

How Did Monkey D. Garp End Up on Hachinosu

Following the abduction of Koby at the hands of the Blackbeard pirates, Garp took it upon himself to rescue his protégé. He went to the G5 naval base to recruit fighters for the rescue mission. In the end, he got the support of Helmeppo, Hibari, Kujaku, Tashigi, and Prince Grus. Once everyone was on board, they wasted no time in sailing towards Blackbeard’s territory. Garp made a spectacular entry as he nearly destroyed an entire town on the island with a single attack. Garp’s appearance caused widespread panic among the pirates, as they knew what he was capable of.

This made Garp the center of attention and allowed Koby to make a run for it. In an ideal world, Koby would have made it to the naval shed without any problems, but that wasn’t the case this time. Kobe was running alongside Hibari when the latter was frozen by former admiral Kuzan. His appearance gave the pirates a much-needed morale boost, and they began their counterattack.

The Momentum Shifts In Kuzan’s Favor

Seeing his former student made Garp emotional, but he knew it wasn’t the time to let them take over his judgment. Kuzan was also aware of his mentor’s strength, so he advised the no-names to step back. As the fight between two of the Navy’s finest unfolded, everyone realized that they were out of their depth. One might think that the contest between them would be close, but Garp proved that he was still the master. He pummeled Kuzan easily, making it seem like a one-sided contest. Had things continued in the same way, Garp would have secured victory.

The Blackbeard Pirates Teamed Up Against Garp

Unfortunately for Garp, the other Titanic captains of the Blackbeard Pirates started to intervene. The Blackbeard Pirates began targeting the young Marines who had accompanied the guard to the island. Garp felt responsible for their lives, so he had to protect them at all costs. He suffered a massive wound to the torso while protecting Koby from Shiryu’s attack. The Impel Down escapee used his Devil Fruit power to stay out of sight and get in position to attack Koby.

The wound affected Garp’s performance, and it allowed Kuzan to get back into the fight. Garp realized that the chances of them escaping the island were slim, so he sacrificed himself so that the younger generation made it out safely.

Koby And Luffy’s Unlikely Alliance To Save Garp

Luffy doesn’t want to lose more family members

Koby must let go of his goal

Since Garp is trapped on the island, somebody needs to go there and rescue him. Koby is going to be one of the first people to try and rescue the Vice Admiral. The young Marine feels responsible for Garp’s capture. Not only did Garp travel to Hachinosu, but he also took a lethal blow to his torso to protect his student. Koby will be eager to save his mentor, but he does not have the necessary strength to pull it off. So he will require help from others.

The Marines Are Too Busy For The Rescue Mission

According to Sakuzuki, the Marines don’t have any hands to spare, so they might not go on a rescue mission. So it will be up to Koby and those who volunteer willingly to save Garp. However, he could gain an unlikely ally in Monkey. D. Luffy. The pirate is super protective of his family and friends. In the past, he traveled alone to Marineford to save Ace from execution. When he finds out that Blackbeard is once again responsible for hurting a family member, he will indubitably be angry. Luffy does not want to lose two family members because of Blackbeard, so he will be on board to team up with his enemies.

Also, it is important to remember that Luffy is one of the few characters who can fight Blackbeard. This is a big reason why Koby needs his support. While the team-up would be incredible to watch, it would mean that Koby has to let go of his desire to capture Luffy.
