Sheridan played titular star Raven-Symoné’s onscreen dad on the Disney Channel series.
Rondell Sheridan is asking for help in his battle with pancreatitis.
The That’s So Raven actor shared a video from a hospital bed on Tuesday requesting assistance in paying his medical bills. “Hey friends, it’s Rondell Sheridan here,” he begins. “On April 10, I was on the road and got sick. Went to the hospital and they thought it was gastric.”
Sheridan, who played Raven-Symoné‘s onscreen father on the Disney Channel sitcom and its spinoff Cory in the House, says that he returned home two days after his initial hospitalization, only to “immediately” head back to a hospital. “[I] was told it’s pancreatitis. Tons of tests,” he says in the video. “I was in the hospital for nine days.”
The actor goes on to explain that he was once again released from the hospital, only to find he needed to return. “I thought I was on the road to recovery, but it was just for observation,” Sheridan says. “My pancreas is inflamed, and there’s not much you can do about it but just wait for the inflammation to go down.”
Sheridan set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for his medical bills. “I didn’t realize that I was gonna be — and will be — out of work for quite some time,” he says. “If you have anything that you could donate, I would gladly appreciate it. Thank you so much.”
Sheridan’s friend, Isabel Beyoso, shared further information in the GoFundMe description. “The doctors have said he just has to wait for his pancreas to do what it’s going to do before any further treatment can be considered, and in the meantime, he will be mostly bedridden, while in recovery,” she wrote.
“If we can all come together to help him financially for his medical and monthly bills while his body heals, I know this will be one giant stress we can collectively take off his shoulders, so that he can focus on resting, recovering, and healing,” Beyoso continued. “Every little bit helps and he appreciates you immensely.”
Sheridan played Victor, the patriarch of the Baxter family, in all 100 episodes of That’s So Raven from 2003 to 2007, and reprised the role on Cory in the House in all 34 episodes of Cory in the House from 2007 to 2008. He also appeared in 44 episodes of the recent follow-up series Raven’s Home, and directed 10 episodes across those three shows.
